Gerald LaBruce Sheppard

Gerald L. Sheppard, died Saturday night, April 3, 2010. Bruce was born April 30, 1922 in Screven County, GA to Thomas Watson Sheppard and Maude Sheley Sheppard.

He graduated from Sylvania High School and was conscripted into service by the United States Army during World War II. After the war, returned to Savannah, GA where he worked at the Savannah Shipyard, then joined the Merchant Marines and later retired from Sears Roebuck and Company.

He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, son, brother, and uncle. He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, and was an avid reader, sportsman, and fisherman. He enjoyed hunting in his earlier years and weekend gardening on his property in Screven County in later years.

He was a lifetime member of the American Legion.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and his son, Jerry Sheppard.

He is survived by his wife, Lois Morgan Sheppard, daughters, Sara R. Williams, and Susan J. Sheppard; grandchildren, Katie Williams and Michael Sheppard; brother, Donald Sheppard, and nineteen nieces and nephews.

Funeral Service will be held 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, April 7, 2010 at Middleground Baptist Church in Screven County, Ga.

Burial will be in the Church Cemetery.
